Maui Honeymoon Itinerary ~ 6 Nights In Paradise

We are thrilled to present our sample Maui honeymoon itinerary for an unforgettable Hawaiian honeymoon. Our itinerary is somewhat unique because we stayed on two distinctly different sides of Maui.
Day 1 Arrive at Private Bungalow Hana Maui
When we arrived, we quickly disembarked since we were seated in First Class and promptly collected our luggage, eager to begin our adventure in Maui! Our rental car was ready, and we drove to our hotel in the Hana area of Maui. After parking the car and checking into our private bungalow with expansive ocean views, we freshened up and headed to the pool to unwind after our journey.
Day 2: Exploring the Road to Hana
We enjoyed a delightful breakfast on the large outdoor balcony at the Hana hotel, feeling as though we were on a movie set, surrounded by lush tropical flowers and greenery. Today, we drove ourselves on the road to Hana. The journey was spectacular, with numerous waterfalls—a must-see experience. However, next time we’ll let someone else do the driving. The hairpin turns can be quite challenging, and with over 600 turns and more than 50 small bridges, it's best handled by the experts. On our way back to our bungalow, we stopped at a roadside farm stand to pick up some fresh fruit and homemade treats. It was my first time having to clean the floor after slicing an orange, but you can't get fresher than that!
Day 3 Black Sand and Secluded Beaches
Today, we ventured out to explore Waianapanapa State Park, renowned for its volcanic jagged cliffs and black sand beaches. It was an experience unlike anything my husband and I had ever encountered. The landscape felt as alien as the moon, yet it was both beautiful and tranquil. The hiking trails are well-marked and mostly easy to navigate. Swimming is excellent, but exercise caution as the waves can become quite high.
After exploring Waianapanapa State Park, we set off on our next adventure to a very secluded beach that made us feel like we were the only people on the island of Maui. These pictures were taken at Koki Beach on a Saturday, and my husband and I were there for over an hour without encountering anyone. Tonight we had dinner at the Hana Ranch restaurant, which is very casual and laid-back but offers very high-quality, locally sourced food.
Day 4 The Other Side of Maui
This morning, we packed up and bid farewell to the Hana area of Maui. We will definitely return, as the slow pace and raw beauty of nature here are unparalleled. On our way to the Hyatt Regency Maui, we stopped at the scenic overlook at Peahi, a world-renowned surfing destination known for its massive waves. If you're in this area, try to plan ahead to dine at Momma's Fishhouse, but if you can't secure a reservation, a great alternative is the Paia Fish Market. Paia is a charming, artsy town with numerous local craft shops and delightful small restaurants offering farm-to-table meals. Once we managed to pull ourselves away from our oceanfront balcony room with views of Lanai, we headed downstairs to enjoy the pools and beach. Be sure to visit or swim up to the grotto bar for a cocktail.
Don't forget to stop by the lobby to meet the resident penguins. The Hyatt excels in caring for and educating guests about the penguins, parrots, and all the wildlife at the resort.
For dinner, we dined at Son's Steakhouse within the resort. It offers a very elegant, five-star, white-glove romantic dining experience with tables overlooking a lake with swans and waterfalls. Be sure to request a lakeside table when making your reservations.
Day 5 Snorkeling with turtles and whales at Molokini Crater
We departed early this morning for a brief drive from the hotel to join our snorkeling tour.
The drive is stunning, with the elevated road offering clear views of humpback whale schools swimming in the waters below. Each year, humpback whales migrate between Alaska and Hawaii, and they are truly remarkable to see. Our journey led us to Molokini Crater, a crescent-shaped island that can only be reached by boat. While enjoying a light breakfast, our marine naturalists explained and showed us photos of the wildlife we were about to see. As we neared our snorkeling location, our captain informed us that we needed to slow down because of the numerous humpback whales swimming around the boat. It's an experience we will never forget.
Day 6 - Pineapple Wine and Luau
After an exciting adventure yesterday, we opted for a more leisurely day at the resort today. Following breakfast at the resort, we enjoyed the pristine waters and soft, powdery sand of Ka'anapali beach. In the afternoon, we went out for lunch and a pineapple wine tasting.
We took a scenic drive to Maui Wine for a gourmet charcuterie tasting, featuring a selection of pineapple wines. I highly recommend this relaxing experience. We appreciated the picturesque drive back, and after a quick nap, we headed downstairs for a traditional Hawaiian Luau. The Luau provided a brief yet entertaining history of the Hawaiian islands and their culture. Food and drinks were included and were excellent, but since this is a very popular show, make sure to book tickets well in advance as it tends to sell out.
Day 7- Final Day of our Maui Honeymoon Itinerary
Today we say farewell to the lush,beautiful and diverse island of Maui, Hawaii.
