Many of you might not be familiar with or have even heard of Riviera Travel River Cruises, a relatively new yet promising cruise line that is making its mark in the American market. Founded with a vision to provide exceptional river cruising experiences, Riviera Travel River Cruises has quickly gained attention for its unique offerings and high standards of service.

While they may be newcomers to the U.S. cruise scene, it is important to note that Riviera Travel River Cruises has been a prominent player in the European travel industry for many years.

I was ecstatic to board the Lord Byron, a ship from Riviera Cruise Lines. The first mate kindly offered me a personal tour, which was breathtaking. The ship featured a distinct Art Deco style with large chandeliers, plenty of polished brass, and richly colored woods. It was beautifully designed, with common areas offering ample space. The main lobby, adorned with a few shops, was stunning. The Lord Byron River Cruise ship also has a small fitness center, putting green on the top deck, nail and hair salon, spa area, and a small pool. A unique and enjoyable feature of the Lord Byron is a cozy, light-filled area at the back of the ship La Brasserie, where charcuterie is served, complete with a dedicated charcuterie menu.

The majority of Riviera's guests are slightly older and predominantly from the UK, although visitors from various parts of the world are also present. As more Americans become aware of Riviera, the demographic is expected to change. The ship can accommodate up to 140 guests, attended to by 36 crew members.

The cabins on the Lord Byron River Cruise ship are comfortably sized, with many featuring French balconies, and some providing full balconies for you to relax and watch the castles go by. Riviera also offers spacious bathrooms with elegant details such as marble countertops and upgraded toiletries. Each cabin has individual controlled air condition, mini fridge and coffee and tea service areas.

Riviera offers daily excursions as part of the package, featuring a wide selection. Additionally, in some ports, there are extra tour options available for a nominal fee. Onboard wine tastings, local delicacies, and live entertainment are also included.

For travelers with mobility issues, we need to determine which ship and line are most suitable for the guests. The Lord Byron River Cruise ship has an elevator, but it does not reach the sundeck. Please note that gangplanks and certain areas of the ship can present challenges. Additionally, when docking, you may be docked alongside another ship or ships, requiring you to pass through more than one ship. It's best to contact us so we can make the appropriate arrangements based on guest needs.

Riviera permits children aged 12 and older to sail. They do not offer connecting cabins, nor do they provide triple or quadruple cabins.

The ambiance aboard the Lord Byron was sophisticated yet unpretentious, characterized by the vibe, fellow travelers, and overall style. The atmosphere was remarkable, with both the staff and guests being exceptionally friendly. There is evening entertainment available, as well as quiet areas for those who prefer to relax with a coffee or cocktail.

Riviera provides an open bar with drinks available all day from 6pm to midnight, including cocktails, mocktails, wine, vodka, rum, spirits and beer, with a few specialty drinks available for an additional charge. Food on Riviera is excellent, and the main restaurant is very elegant with menus that change daily. The Bistro offer is a bit more casual but still beautiful and offers a set menu. Keep in mind to pack something extra special for the Chef's Dinner. Next year open bar will be offer from 10am to midnight.

Anticipating in 2026 and 2027, when Riviera Travel River Cruises will introduce the George Elliott, the first ship specifically designed for solo travelers. This new vessel will provide over 65 departures for solo guests without any single supplement fees. New to Riviera also is the Mekong River, sailings coming soon. The Lord Byron was a delightful experience, and as a certified Riviera Travel River Cruise Expert, I look forward to spending more time aboard Riviera Travel River Cruises.
