My Top Five Favorite Restaurants on St Kitts and Nevis

If you live to eat, cook, and travel like I do, you don't want to miss out on these truly great local restaurants on the lush tropical islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. Here are my top five favorite restaurants on St. Kitts and Nevis.

1. The Great House

Starting with one of my top five favorite restaurants for breakfast, may I suggest The Great House at Park Hyatt St. Kitts?

The Great House features an outdoor patio. Here, you can enjoy the warm Caribbean breezes while savoring daily breakfast specials. The views of Nevis are fully unobstructed. Nevis is just a short ten-minute water taxi ride away, running almost hourly every day. Make sure to try the Hummingbird pancakes. They are made with bananas, pineapple, dark rum, Chantilly cream, and praline. You won't be disappointed.

2. The Kitchen

The Kitchen is set in a stone mill at the Belle Mont Sanctuary Resort. It offers a true farm-to-table experience. Located atop a mountain at 1,000 feet, it feels like you have been transported to a beautiful, untouched part of the world.

The herbs, fruits, and vegetables are grown on a 400-acre organic farm. The meats, poultry, and seafood are all sourced locally, ensuring freshness. You can truly taste the difference that freshness makes.

We started with the West Indian Seafood Stew. It included lobster, shrimp, mussels, mahi-mahi, peppers, and onions, all blended with the perfect mix of flavor and spice, not too much heat.

For the main course, we had freshly caught grilled lobster over a Caesar salad with banana bread croutons. We also enjoyed a creamy lobster salad sandwich made on homemade bread. For a unique side dish, try the breadfruit fries.

Dessert was a heavenly homemade warm chocolate brownie. The food and views of neighboring islands are well worth the scenic drive. No doubt the kitchen will make it on to your top five favorite restaurants on St Kitts too.

3. Spice Mill

Spice Mill is a short walk from the Park Hyatt St. Kitts. It is a beach club located on Conch Shell Bay Beach. Here, you can enjoy showers and both lunch and dinner.

In the evening, they offer a full-service sit-down dinner menu. Johnny cakes are sweet round bread served with parsley butter. They make a tasty shareable dish.

For our appetizer, we had the conch fritters. They were very crispy on the outside but moist and delicious on the inside. If you like clams, don’t miss the conch fritters; you will love these.

For the main course, I had the freshly caught red snapper. It was encrusted in panko breadcrumbs and topped with crab meat. My husband really enjoyed that morning's catch of mahi-mahi, which was served grilled over coconut basmati rice and vegetables. Everything we enjoyed was delicious and very reasonably priced.

After dinner, stay and dance the night away on the beachfront dance floor or enjoy a cocktail while listening to the band. Spice Mill makes for a perfect evening in the Caribbean, with so much to offer its a must for your top restaurant list as well.

4. On The Dune

On The Dune at the Four Seasons Nevis offers a truly five-star experience without being pretentious. The ocean views here are unobstructed, and it's an amazing secluded beach resort accessed by boat.

Relaxed fine dining began with homemade warm monkey bread. Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and warm butter made the monkey bread melt in your mouth.

My main course was to die for: grilled jumbo prawns with lemon garlic butter and Peruvian smashed purple potatoes with butter and Parmigiano cheese. My husband had the spiny lobster linguine.

For dessert, we had warm and gooey chocolate lava cake topped with homemade vanilla ice cream. We also enjoyed a peanut butter chocolate bar with banana ice cream. Each bite was a little taste of heaven, and I am not a dessert person.

The bar at the end of their dock offers some of the world's most stunning sunsets.

5. Marshalls

Situated in a residential area of St Kitts on a small side street, you'll find an unpretentious restaurant called Marshalls. Originally a pool club for the local community, Marshalls has transformed into a charming restaurant. It features tables nestled in various nooks around the pool, surrounded by tropical gardens and offering views of Frigate Bay.

For starters, we had the cracked conch, which is a delicately fried conch fritter, and a heavenly crab cake.

For entrees, we had freshly caught sweet grilled lobster tails and grilled ribeye steak with steamed vegetables. You can taste the freshness of the local catch and the ingredients used to create impressive dishes.

Our desserts were a fruit tart topped with exotic local fruits and a bread pudding with vanilla ice cream.

The vibrant dining scene is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts. It offers a range of outstanding dining options that cater to various tastes and preferences. From traditional Caribbean fare to innovative fusion cuisine, each restaurant presents a unique experience that highlights the islands' abundant natural resources and local ingredients. These are just my top five favorite restaurants on St. Kitts and Nevis, but I can't wait to visit again to explore more amazing dining options on these two beautiful, peaceful tropical islands.
