New UK Travel Rules: Electronic Travel Authorization Required.

Beginning January 8, 2025, all US Passport holders, regardless of age, will need an electronic travel authorization (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom. Your electronic travel authorization (ETA) will be valid for 2 years or when your passport expires, whichever comes first. You may enter the United kingdom as many times as you like during that time period, but you may only stay up to 6 months per entry. Once you apply for the electronic travel authorization (ETA), you will receive an email within 3 business days approving or denying your entry to the UK. Please make sure to apply with plenty of extra time for processing, just in case you are denied and need to reapply.
US passport holders may begin applying on November 27, 2024.
Cost of electronic travel authorization (ETA) is 10 Pounds Sterling to be paid at the time of application.
Electronic Travel Authorization is also required for anyone without a visa who is just transiting thru the United Kingdom. Please also check the entry requirements for your final destination as many of those are changing for 2025. Your passport must be valid for your length of stay in the United Kingdom, if traveling to other countries you must check the passport validity for each of those countries. Most countries require that your passport has one blank page and is not torn or damaged.
